I thought I would get writing my blog early in the morning today. It’s 6.30am and already I have had to stop Benjamin from raiding the cupboard, he also woke up poor Elliott by climbing in the cot and playing with the mobile.
We are in the potty training faze at the moment. It seems to be going well as long as Benjamin is completely naked and he does everything himself. I’ve tried to get him on the potty for months but had no luck as every time I’ve reminded him, it’s steared him further away from the potty. Though the other day he just went to the potty, which I sat out in the garden and he was naked from playing in the paddling pool. He managed to do a big poo as well. We washed it away into the toilet and he washed his hands and then I gave him a Paw patrol sticker which we put on the good behaviour chart. After that, he continued to do countless amounts of wees and poos in the potty, probably one poo and wee which was separated into many for the stickers. Though good as he’s learning to hold it in and then let go. I let him have a sticker on the chart for each time. He managed to fill the whole row on the chart in just that day. I was such a proud mummy. Now just a couple of days on, he’s had some instances where he pooed and wee’ed in the garden. A funny moment was when I caught him with his leg propped up like the dog, pointing his willy to the tree. I had to explain that poos and wees only go in the potty or toilet, I’m hoping there is the realisation where he doesn’t get the praise and stickers. This morning he has taken his nappy off and asked for the potty. I’m loving how this is improving everyday. Another stress which I can finally let go of, lol.
With the weather being really nice and warm at the moment, Benjamin seems to love being naked all the time. The day before yesterday, whilst I was cooking dinner for the kids, Benjamin went out in the garden for a minute with the dog whilst Elliott was still asleep in his car seat as we had just got back from the supermarket. Elliott started crying, so I headed to him and got him out of the seat, then I got a knock at the front door, opened the door and the dog ran in. A moment of confusion and shock over through me, if the dog managed to come from the front, where the hell is my naked child who was playing in the garden? Ahead behind my car two ladies were looking down at something. I called Benjamin and a lady walked him over to me, she started shouting at me, accusing me of being a bad parent. Benjamin came to me and started crying as she was scaring him. To be honest I was surprised I kept my calm but just asked her with a louder tone so she could hear over her shouting “Thankyou very much but can you please not talk to me like that. Do you really think as a mother, I would let my child out on this busy road Butt naked? No”. I also was saying thankyou very much to everyone who was around who seemed to have helped. This lovely man who regularly walks his dog past our house asked if I was okay which was really nice as I was quite shocked and confused how he managed to get out. I was hoping that i was right in thinking that it had been only a couple of minutes since I last saw Benjamin with Marley as well. You start second guessing yourself. Am I going crazy. Once I closed the door, I checked with Benjamin that he was okay and asked if he was hurting anywhere as he was still crying a lot. Luckily he wasn’t and went back to his usual self within a very short period of time. Frightening though.
